08/25/08: GCU Tennis Ranked Fourth in 2008 CACC Preseason Poll

CACC logoThe Georgian Court University tennis team, looking to rebound from a 7-9 (4-3) campaign in 2007, will begin the 2008 schedule ranked fourth in the CACC's preseason poll, selected by the CACC head coaches.

 

 

08/20/08: Lions' Volleyball Tops South Division in 2008 CACC Preseason Poll

undefinedNEW HAVEN, CT  –  Georgian Court University and Bloomfield College were selected to win their respective divisions for the second consecutive season as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball preseason poll was released today. Bloomfield was a unanimous pick to win the North Division with 78 points. Georgian Court picked up 90 points to top the South Division, while being chosen first on 12 of 13 ballots. The 13 head coaches conducted the voting.

 

 

08/20/08: 15 GCU Student-Athletes Named Division II ADA Inaugural Academic Achievement Award Winners

ADA logoCleveland, Ohio -- The Division II Athletics Directors Association (DII ADA) announced the inaugural recipients of the DII ADA Academic Achievement Awards presented by WeatherPORT. The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.

  

 

08/15/08: GCU Cross-Country Ties for Ninth in NCAA Division II East Regional Preseason Poll

Heather MiaraThe Georgian Court University Cross Country team, coming of a season in which they won their second consecutive CACC conference title, will begin the 2008 campaign tied for ninth in the NCAA Division II East Region preseason poll, released on August 15th.  Individually, Heather Miara (right) (So.-Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) concluded a stellar freshman season by winning the conference race in record time (19:23:29), earning her CACC Rookie of the Year.  Julienne Reilly (Sr.-Wall, NJ/St. Rose) and Jen Musumeci (So.-Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) were the other two Lions to earn all-conference honors last season.

 

 

08/13/08: GCU Ranked Third in CACC Preseason Soccer Poll

CACCThe GCU Lions begin the 2008 campaign ranked third for the second consecutive season in the CACC's preseason soccer poll, selected by the CACC head coaches, and look to build off 2007's program-record 14 victories.

 

 

07/30/08: GCU Soccer Alumni Game Scheduled for August 23rd

undefinedThe Georgian Court University soccer team is proud to announce its first-ever Soccer Alumni game, which will be held on Saturday, August 23rd. The game will played on brand new Investor’s Savings Bank Field on the GCU campus in Lakewood, NJ with kickoff slated for 2 PM.

 

 

07/29/08: CACC Adds Women's Lacrosse

CACC logoNEW HAVEN, CT  – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) will add women’s lacrosse to its list of sponsored sports in 2008-09, according to an announcement by Commissioner Dan Mara. The CACC, which also added men's tennis, now sponsors 13 sports, including men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s tennis, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, and men’s golf.

06/25/08:NCAA Awards Walker with Postgraduate Scholarship

Heather WalkerINDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA has awarded Georgian Court University softball All-American Heather Walker with a $7,500 postgraduate scholarship, one of only 58 total postgraduate spring- sport scholarships awarded nationwide. The NCAA distributed scholarships to 29 male student-athletes and 29 female student-athletes who participated in spring sports, which included men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, women’s lacrosse, women’s rowing, baseball, and softball.

 

 

 

06/25/08: Walker Named CACC Woman of the Year

HWNEW HAVEN, CT – Heather Walker of Georgian Court University is the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference’s (CACC) nominee for the 2008 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, it was announced today by Commissioner Dan Mara. The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors senior student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership. Walker played both volleyball and softball for the Lions and she received numerous accolades for her athletic, academic and leadership achievements.

 

 

06/18/08: ECAC Announces 2008 Division II All-Stars

ECAC logoThe Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2008 Division II Softball All-Star team today. Lions' ace Samantha Sasko (Groveville, NJ) was named ECAC Pitcher of the Year and earned a spot on the ECAC First-Team while senior catcher Heather Walker (Hanover, ONT) also garnered a place on the First-Team roster.

 

 

06/16/08: GCU's Rubio Recipient of 2008-09 Division II Degree-Completion Award

Diana RubioThe NCAA Division II Degree Completion Award Committee has selected recipients for the 2008-09 awards. From a pool of 182 applications, the committee awarded 86 applicants from 63 different Division II institutions, including GCU's Diana Rubio (Secaucus, NJ). The committee also selected 10 alternates.
