Student Employment

Federal Work Study

Employment under the Federal College Work Study Program is awarded as part of the financial aid package.  Many work study positions provide skills and experiences that will assist students in their career development.  Students are not obligated to accept work study or to complete a certain number of hours.  The amount earned will not be applied to the student’s tuition bill but will be paid to the student through a paycheck.  Eligibility for the Federal College Work Study program is determined by the results of the FAFSA and can change from year to year due to changes in parent or student income.

GCU Work Study

GCU work study is a student employment program for students who are not eligible for Federal College Work Study.  Students are not obligated to accept work study or to complete a certain number of hours.  The amount earned will not be applied to the student’s tuition bill but will be paid to the student through a paycheck.

Community Service

Students who have been awarded Federal College work-study have the option to work off-campus in community service positions.  GCU currently offers these positions in local elementary schools.  Students have the opportunity to assist teachers in the classroom, and this is an excellent opportunity for education majors to receive hands on experience in an educational facility.
