Planned Giving…Ways to Give
There are many ways to give to Georgian Court through estate and gift planning. Naming Georgian Court in your will or living trust, donating a life insurance policy, and joining our Lofty Pines Society are just a few of our many planned giving options. For assistance with gift planning, please contact the Office of Advancement at 732.987.2232 or advancement @georgian.edu.
Naming Georgian Court in Your Will or Living Trust
It is easy to make a donation to Georgian Court in your will. Simply designate Georgian Court University as a beneficiary for an amount or percentage. Your estate is entitled to a charitable tax deduction for the gift’s full value.
Donating Life Insurance to Georgian Court
For many, the need for life insurance declines with age. You can put your policy to good use, benefiting you and Georgian Court. Three ways to donate life insurance:
1. Charity as beneficiary. Consider designating Georgian Court as a beneficiary of your policy. This provides you with a simple way to provide a charitable legacy.
2. Gift the policy. Consider a gift of a fully paid life insurance policy to Georgian Court. Once gifted, Georgian Court will have full rights to the policy. You will be eligible for an income tax charitable deduction that amounts to the cost of replacing the policy with a single premium life insurance policy.
3. Pay the premiums. Consider donating an existing permanent policy in which premiums remain to be paid. After transferring, you will be eligible for an income tax charitable deduction that generally equals the lesser of net investment in the policy and the fair market value of the policy. If you pay the remaining premiums, you may also receive an income tax charitable deduction for the payments.
Lofty Pines Society
The Lofty Pines Society celebrates the generosity of individuals who have pledged their support of Georgian Court University with a gift from their estate. Membership is open to those who share a common desire to help support the future of excellence at Georgian Court, and provide written proof that they have included Georgian Court University in their will, trust or other type of estate plan.
