Not Just Peace, Love, and Granola: GCU to Hold Holistic Health Forums
Lakewood, N.J., Mar. 9, 2007— On Saturday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 11, Georgian Court University will host Holistic Health Forums, designed to teach the public about various forms of alternative healing and their benefits. The March 31 forum will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and the April 11 forum will take place from 6:00 p.m.to 9:00 p.m.
“I was teaching a class called Alternative Healing Modalities, and my students were amazed when they learned what could be done with herbs,” says Alan Temes, Ph.D., assistant professor of holistic health studies at Georgian Court. “They had the same reaction to massage therapy, aromatherapy, acupuncture and others. So, I asked them why more people don’t use them, and their reply was that most people don’t know anything about it.”
The first event will include presentations by osteopathic physician Dr. Holly Roberts, chiropractor Bill Henry, certified acupuncturist Keith Kohler, and certified massage therapist Johnny Adams. The second event will include presentations from certified nutritionist Larry Braslow, certified aromatherapist Georgann Serino, chiropractor and homeopath Dr. Colette Hayes, physiatrist and energy worker Dr. Stephanie Argyris, and harp therapist Lynda Lowell-Mullusky. Each practitioner will speak for 20 minutes on his or her area of expertise, and the remaining time will be devoted to a roundtable discussion of how people can decide which of the modalities is appropriate for them, as well as the order in which they should be sought. There will also be a question-and-answer period.
Both events are free and open to the public. They will take place at the Little Theatre on Georgian Court’s Lakewood campus. Reservations are required. For further information and reservations, please contact the Office of Conferences and Special Events at 732.987.2263 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
