Georgian Court University Announces Concerts, Recitals
Lakewood, N.J., Oct. 31, 2008—Georgian Court University is pleased to announce the Fall 2008 music schedule, which will kick off this month at the university’s picturesque and historic Lakewood campus. The fall lineup is part of Georgian Court’s ongoing Centennial celebration and includes a variety of instrumental and vocal music genres.
Kathleen Settles of the GCU Department of Music says that the diversity of musical styles and performers is by design. “The purpose is to give our students exposure to a wide variety of instruments and kinds of music,” she says.
She adds that in total, there will be nearly 100 musicians who will perform in the fall concert series.
The season kicks off with the Fall Jazz Band Concert on Sunday, November 16, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gavan Student Lounge. The Faculty & Student Recital will be held on Sunday, November 23, at 7:00 p.m. (location to be announced).
In December, GCU presents the Chorale Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Marron University Community Chapel. The Concert Band’s Christmas Concert will be held on Monday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Casino. The String Orchestra will present their December Concert on Wednesday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Marron Chapel, and the Court Singers & Flute Ensemble will perform their Christmas Concert on Monday, December 15, at 7:00 p.m. in the Marron Chapel.
All concerts are $10 per person, $5 per senior citizen or non-GCU student, and FREE to GCU community with ID. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
