Local Artist Exhibits “Colors of Nature” at Georgian Court University Art Gallery
Lakewood, N.J., Feb. 13, 2009—See nature transformed by the talented hand of watercolor and oil artist Muriel Rogers. From a dreamy mist-covered lake to an unusually crisp snowfall, this New Jersey native juxtaposes two seemingly opposite techniques to form photographic clarity against a soft-edged background. This show of 25 watercolor and oil paintings will run from Monday, March 2, through Friday, April 3, at the M. Christina Geis Art Gallery. The show is free and open to the public, and the gallery’s hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, call Kathleen Settles at 732.987.2388.
Muriel Rogers’ paintings reflect her passion for the colors of nature. She is widely recognized for her masterly blending and mingling of pigment to capture fleeting effects of light and atmosphere. Her work, rendered in a combined realistic-impressionistic style, often focuses on the ever-changing colors of the sky and sea, and the moods they invoke.
Ms. Rogers’ work is collected nationally, and she has been featured in American Artist Watercolor Magazine, Jersey Shore Once More, Jersey Shore Magazine, Jersey Shore Home and Garden Magazine and Living Colts Neck Magazine.
Ms. Rogers is an alumna of Georgian Court College. Her work may be seen at the Anchor and Palette Gallery, Bay Head, N.J.; the New American Gallery, newamgallery.com; Guild of Creative Art, Shrewsbury, N.J.; and at her studio in Colts Neck.
Recent awards include the 2008 Anchor and Palette Annual Invitational Watercolor Show—1st Prize; 2008 New Jersey Artists Professional League Annual Juried Show—1st Oil; and 2007 Guild of Creative Art Annual Juried State Show, 1st Overall Painting.
