Oil/Mixed Media Artist Presents “Reflections” at Georgian Court
Lakewood, N.J., Jan. 28, 2010—During the month of February, oil and mixed media artist Shin-Young An will present “Reflections,” an art exhibit that juxtaposes routine tasks with exceptional events in the news. The exhibit begins on Monday, February 1, and runs through Friday, February 26, in the M. Christina Geis Art Gallery on Georgian Court University’s Lakewood campus.
“In the past, I have attempted to faithfully record my subject, with an emotional response limited only to that subject,” says Ms. An, a Palisades Park, New Jersey, resident. “While reading the newspaper, articles began affecting me, and I wanted this to be reflected in my work. I depict these reactions through the visual interaction of limbs, portraits, and flowers painted against a backdrop of current news articles that have touched me.”
An artist’s reception will be held on Wednesday, February 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public, and the gallery’s hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, call Kathleen Settles at 732.987.2388.
