Abbott and Costello Meet Georgian Court University
Lakewood, N.J., Oct. 19, 2010—On Sunday, October 24, at 2:00 p.m., join Georgian Court University for a salute to Abbott and Costello, the original Jersey Boys (born in Asbury Park and Paterson respectively), and one of the most beloved comedy teams of all time.
Gather in the Little Theatre on the Lakewood campus for an unveiling of long-lost Abbott and Costello memorabilia, including a recorded interview recently found by Sal St. George of St. George Productions (creator and writer of GCU’s Biographies from The Court). As a young college student, Mr. St. George was given the chance to meet one of his childhood idols, William “Bud” Abbott. The recording of their talk was thought to be lost, but Mr. St. George recently discovered it in his attic with photos and other memorabilia. Audience members will enjoy hearing this tape as it is played for the first time in nearly 40 years.
Abbott and Costello authority Ron Palumbo will also be on hand to share his knowledge. Mr. Palumbo founded the Official Abbott and Costello Fan Club in 1986 and is the coauthor of Abbott and Costello in Hollywood, the definitive history of the team’s feature films. Mr. Palumbo has written the liner notes for several Abbott and Costello DVD collections, including Abbott & Costello: The Complete Universal Films and Abbott and Costello: The Complete TV Series. He has appeared on The Today Show, Entertainment Tonight, A&E Biography, and documentaries.
Following the discussion will be a Halloween screening of the hilarious fright-fest Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948).
Admission is $10 per person, and reservations are required. For more information or to make reservations, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 732.987.2263.
