Georgian Court Presents Healthy Heart Series for American Heart Month
First Session “Women and Heart Disease” Offered during Women’s Heart Week
Lakewood, N.J., Jan. 19, 2011—Only 55 percent of women realize that heart disease ranks as their No.1 killer, and less than half know what are considered healthy levels for cardiovascular risk factors like blood pressure and cholesterol. On Friday, February 4, Georgian Court University addresses these critical issues and others during “Women and Heart Disease,” the first lecture in the four-part Healthy Heart Series sponsored by the Meridian CardioVascular Network.
Led by Scott Eisenberg, D.O., a board-certified cardiologist at Jersey Shore Medical Center, the “Women and Heart Disease” lecture is designed to help young adult and older women learn the basics about heart disease, identify risk factors, and implement prevention strategies. Discussions will center on heart disease and heart attacks, signs and symptoms, risk factors, family history, and risk assessment.
The two-hour event begins at 10:00 a.m. and will take place in the Mansion on GCU’s historic Lakewood campus. Reservations are required for this lecture and upcoming topics in the four-part series; please contact GCU’s Office of Conferences and Special Events at 732.987.2263 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The lectures are $5 per person for the general public, and free to GCU students and McAuley Institute for Lifelong Learning members with ID.
Upcoming lectures in the Healthy Heart Series include:
- Diabetes and Heart Disease, Friday, February 11, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 noon, The Mansion
