GCU to Host Bus Trip to NJPAC for Monty Python’s Spamalot
Hilarity Ensues with Cast of Flying Cows, Killer Rabbits, and Knights Who Say “Nee!”
Lakewood, N.J., Mar. 3, 2011—Georgian Court University is sponsoring a bus trip to the show that teaches us to always look on the bright side of life, Monty Python's Spamalot, on Sunday, April 3.
Guests will enjoy a buffet brunch on GCU’s Lakewood campus before boarding a bus to see the matinee show at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark. Prior to the performance, ticketholders are invited to a free Artisan Marketplace exhibition and sale in the Prudential Hall lobby.
The hilarious musical, “lovingly ripped off” from the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail, won the 2005 Tony, Outer Critics, and Drama Desk Awards for Best Musical. Written by Eric Idle and John Du Prez, the record-breaking show tells the age-old tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table and their search for the Holy Grail. It features an odd cast that includes flying cows, killer rabbits, and knights who say “Nee!” The New Yorker hails it as a “no-holds-barred smash” and The Sunday Times declares that the show “raises silliness to an art form.”
The cost is $115 per person, and includes round-trip transportation, orchestra seating, and brunch. Brunch is at 10:45 a.m. in the North Dining Room on GCU’s Lakewood campus. The bus departs GCU at 12:00 noon for the 2:00 p.m. show. Prepurchase of tickets is required. For tickets and more information, contact the Office of Conferences and Special Events at 732.987.2263 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
