GCU Chorale to Sing Classics and Broadway Favorites
Lakewood, N.J., Apr. 15, 2011—On Saturday, May 7, the gifted Georgian Court University Chorale will present their annual spring concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Casino Auditorium on the Lakewood campus. Expect to enjoy an array of selections from classical music to Broadway show tunes.
The GCU Chorale is comprised of singers from the university as well as people from the surrounding townships. Classical selections for the evening include “O Fortuna” from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, “Until I Found the Lord” by Andre J. Thomas, as well as several others. The Chorale will also perform several selections from Broadway and film, including “Alice's Theme” from Alice in Wonderland by Danny Elfman and Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Charles Hart.
Chorale director Karen Mulhall is excited to present this interesting and varied program. “The classical selections represent composers from the 16th to the 20th centuries,” she says. “And the popular selections we are calling ‘Thrills and Chills,’ featuring songs from Broadway hits such as Little Shop of Horrors, Wicked, Sweeney Todd, and Jekyll and Hyde, as well as popular movies like the Harry Potter series and Alice in Wonderland.”
Tickets are $10 per person, $5 per senior citizen or non-GCU student, and free to GCU community members with ID. Reservations are not required. For more information, contact Kathleen Settles at 732.987.2624.
