George E. Norcross, III to be honored at Georgian Court University Scholarship Classic
GCU Scholarship Fundraiser salutes South Jersey Business Leader
Lakewood, N.J., Mar. 16, 2012—Georgian Court University has named Camden business executive George E. Norcross, III the recipient of the university’s Joseph E. Buckelew Civic Service Award. Mr. Norcross, executive chairman of Conner Strong & Buckelew, will be honored during GCU’s Scholarship Classic on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Spring Lake Golf Club.
“We are happy to honor Mr. Norcross for his commitment to education and to help young people reach their full potential. This is our largest fundraising event and all proceeds go directly to student scholarships,” said Georgian Court University President Rosemary Jeffries, RSM, Ph.D., ’72.
Mr. Norcross, who also chairs the board of trustees of the Cooper University Hospital and Cooper Health System, is a supporter of healthcare research and accessibility. He also is deeply involved with education and children’s issues.
The Cherry Hill resident will be honored during GCU’s annual scholarship classic, an outing that for 17 years has brought supporters of the university together for a day of fun and fund-raising. This year, the event begins with registration at 10:00 a.m., followed by a barbecue brunch at 10:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon. Later, participants will enjoy a 5:30 p.m. silent auction and open bar cocktail reception, followed by the awards dinner, where Mr. Norcross will be the guest of honor.
