About A Chorus Line:
In an empty theater, on a bare stage, casting for a new Broadway musical is almost complete. The field’s been narrowed down to just 17 dancers. But before the final cut is made, the director asks each of them to talk about themselves. He starts by asking their name, age, hometown, and reason for being a dancer. But he wants more than just their resumes. He wants to know about their families, friends, lovers, ambitions, and careers. From funny to heartbreaking, the dancers share with us the stories of their lives. And when they’re done, so is the audition. And the final chorus line of eight dancers is chosen.
This classic musical earned the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and nine Tony Awards in 1976. After 6,137 performances, it closed on Broadway in 1990. With songs like the ultimate high-kicking chorus number “One,” the torch ballad “What I Did for Love,” and the poignant “Nothing,” this revival is one singular sensation that will be sure to tug at your heartstrings and make you tap your feet.
