New Wireless Networks Coming January 1, 2015

November 26, 2014

Over the past few months we have redesigned and improved our campus wireless network to allow us to increase its speed, leverage the latest technologies, increase device compatibility, and improve security. Our design focus has been to offer two wireless networks, identified by new names GCU Secure and GCUNet. The highly secure GCU Secure network is for students, faculty, and staff. GCUNet is designed for controlled access by visitors.

On January 1, 2015 the old obsolete students wireless network will no longer be available. All students, faculty, and staff must switch to GCU Secure for use with laptops, tablets, phones, and other wireless devices.

Excellent instructions for several types of devices are available at the University of California - San Diego website. When using these instructions remember to select the GCU Secure network and use your Georgian Court network userID and password.

  • If your Windows laptop has a message about an untrusted certificate with the option of 'Terminate' or 'Connect', select 'Connect'.
  • If your iPhone or iPad has a message about verification of an untrusted certification with an option to ‘Accept’ or ‘Cancel’, select ‘Accept’ (some devices may say ‘Verify’ instead).
  • If you have a gaming console or Apple TV that you'd like to connect, email the Helpdesk at or call extension 2222 for assistance.
