Research / Creativity Interest Area
Naomie found her passion for the social work profession and teaching while working as a Medic for the United State Army. Wanting to engage in advocate to address the problems of homelessness, mental health, and policy being faced by veterans.
Naomie enjoys conducting research in trauma, mental health stigma, bias training and acknowledgement by mental health providers, veteran and mental health, and impact of immigration on parent and child relationship and connection to Domestic Violence relationship.
She also works as a certified trauma professional utilizing EMDR to address trauma across the life span.

Additional Information
Naomie is a 13-year U.S. Army Veteran and gained interest in the helping profession through working with veterans. Her specialization is in trauma, mental health stigma, bias training and acknowledgement by mental health providers, veteran and mental health, and impact of immigration on parent and child relationship. She also works as a certified trauma professional utilizing EMDR to address trauma across the life span. Her approach to teaching is grounded in critical and transformative pedagogies, as well as a deep-rooted joy in collaborating and encouraging students to “take a chance and make mistakes” as they embark on self-discovery.
When not working, Naomie is working out, lifting weights, reading, watching dramas, throwing clay, researching, running half-marathons, listening to music, and making new meaningful connections through advocacy and client empowerment. attempts at hiking, biking, gardening are a hit or awkward long shot.
