Lakewood, N.J., December 12, 2018—Since 1838, Austrians have celebrated the New Year with a breakfast concert performed by the Vienna Philharmonic. For the fourth consecutive year, Georgian Court University will borrow this festive tradition, launching 2019 with a musical celebration led by Maestro Anthony LaGruth of the Livingston Philharmonic.
The New Year’s brunch begins at 11 a.m. on January 1, 2019; the concert will start at noon. Tickets are $47 each and include brunch, beverages, and the concert. They must be purchased in advance online at this reservations page. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Maestro LaGruth, a conductor recognized for his rapport with audiences, will present a mix of contemporary and classical pieces, along with some holiday standards. The music will be accompanied by a hearty brunch buffet of pasta, French toast, sausage, scrambled eggs, fresh fruits, breakfast pastries, and beverages.
An adjunct faculty member at GCU and Ocean County College, Maestro LaGruth builds relationships with his listeners through outreach programs and pre-concert discussions. He is dedicated to finding innovative ways to bridge the gap between new audiences and classical music. He earned a master’s degree in orchestral conducting and a bachelor’s degree in composition from Ithaca College. He also attended the Pierre Monteux School for Conductors in Hancock, ME.
