“VISITING” THE MET FROM GEORGIAN COURT
With more than two million works spanning five thousand years of culture, a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Fifth Avenue in New York City can be daunting to even the experienced visitor. The museum was founded in 1870 to bring the same historic and fine arts to the people of the United States available to older countries, and also to make them available to all ages. Dr. Festa overviews some of the Met’s famous and some of its lesser-known treasures in the museum’s permanent collections.
