Celebrating Women Entrepreneurship Week

Join Georgian Court University for Women Leading the Way, a panel discussion featuring regional business leaders. The event, hosted by the GCU Schools of Arts & Science, Education, and Business and Digital Media, is part of the sixth annual international observance of Women Entrepreneurship Week (WEW).

Tiffanie ArtisTiffanie Jones Artis, is the President of Sitra Development Incorporated, a management company that owns Howell and Gene’s Driving Schools that have served Monmouth, Ocean, and Middlesex Counties for over 60 years.  Since Artis and her husband bought the driving schools in 2018, the company has experienced a 30% sales growth with focus on marketing and branding, product development, operational excellence, and superior customer service. Artis has recently launched a travel agency focusing on group travel within the United States and the Caribbean.
Krishna PowellFondly referred to as “The Multi-Gen Leader”, Krishna Powell is Founder & CEO of HR 4 Your Small Biz, LLC, a boutique style human resources consulting and talent development firm.  As a nationally renowned subject-matter expert on the Millennial and i-Gen/Homeland generation, Krishna has facilitated talent development programs and coaching clients throughout the United States, France, China, United Kingdom and Singapore.  Mrs. Powell possesses an uncanny ability to connect with the next generation of leaders; providing them with practical applications for success in life and the workplace.
Bridget RieplBridget Riepl is the founder of the NJ Yoga Collective and the VibeWell Yoga Festival. Bridget has taught yoga all over the Jersey Shore since 2010; in 2017, Bridget founded the NJ Yoga Collective - NJ's lifestyle guide for wellness, health, happiness, meditation, mindfulness and one of her truest loves, the practice of yoga. Bridget is inspired by connection, her family, nature and getting vulnerable. She is most alive when she is working with others, serving as a catalyst for people seeking to discover their highest self as teachers and practitioners. She listens on a deep level, sees the big picture, and empowers others to live their dreams. Bridget was voted the “Best Yoga Teacher in Monmouth County” in 2016 and 2018 by the readers of Monmouth Health and Life Magazine. When she isn’t teaching, writing, talking, inspiring, creating and collaborating, she is on the beach with her kids. You can find her on Instagram at @bridgetriepl and @njyogacollective.
Valarie SmithValarie M. Smith is the Lead Founder and Executive Director of Ocean Academy Charter School in Lakewood, the first charter school in Ocean County.  The school has been in operation for three years and serves students from Kindergarten to Fourth Grade.  Ocean Academy is chartered with the State to eventually be a Kindergarten thru Eighth Grade Elementary School. Ms. Smith has over 30 years of experience in government representing various elected officials on the state and federal levels.  She has worked in the legislative, executive, and regulatory branches of the State of New Jersey and received a White House appointment to the U.S. Department of Education as the Secretary’s Regional Representative representing Region II (New York) where she served two terms. Much of her work has been in education governance and she received an award from the National Cable Television Association for best work in Government & Community Relations for her work in writing the State of NJ’s Fourth Grade Civics Program “A Dinosaur’s Day in Trenton”.  She is also one of the original creators of the first children’s website “A Cartoon History of New Jersey” on the Governor’s Website. Ms. Smith lives in Toms River and is a mother of two and a grandmother of five.

Women Entrepreneurship Week started in 2014 with four New Jersey universities holding events, and has grown into an international celebration. For the 2019 WEW, more than 150 colleges and universities in 23 countries and 39 states in the United States will hold WEW events on their campuses. Some of the participating schools include Babson, University of Michigan, Michigan State, UNC, Princeton, Loyola Marymount, Cornell, University of Iowa, Seton Hall, Georgetown, and more.
