An Overview of the Medical Profession
Mini-Medical School is a collaborative, community-based program for high school students in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, sponsored by the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University, and Hackensack Meridian Health. The six-week series marks its first year partnering with Georgian Court University.
The goal of the program is to expose students to the many rewarding careers in medicine and related professions; provide them the opportunity to hear from health care professionals about their journey, and the challenges and joys in their work. Mini-Medical School has been in existence since 2013; in 2014, it was one of the recipients of the School Leader Award from the New Jersey School Board Association. Since inception, more than 500 students have graduated from Mini-Medical School.
The upcoming Mini-Medical School at GCU includes six sessions designed for high school and college students considering careers in healthcare. Successful participants will participate in a graduation ceremony, as well.
