International Day of Non-Violence Observance
October 2, 2019
Join Georgian Court University faculty, staff, students and friends to mark the U.N.’s International Day of Non-Violence, Wednesday, October 2. The global observance of non-violence is also a time to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. The historical giant is considered the “pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence.”
Participants are encouraged to wear white for the observance, and are invited to the GCU Peace Pole for a commemoration prayer at 2 p.m.
For more information, contact GCU faculty member Sarita Nemani, Ph.D. You can also learn more about the international observance or the life and leadership of Gandhi, visit the United Nations website.
