God Squad Duo—Dr. Christopher Bellitto and Rabbi Brooks Susman— to Present “Catholics and Jews: Changing the Conversation”
Lakewood, N.J., March 21, 2016—Engage with Rabbi Brooks Susman (above, left) and Christopher Bellitto, Ph.D., the duo also known as the “God Squad,” as they present “Catholics and Jews: Changing the Conversation” on Thursday, March 31, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Casino Auditorium on Georgian Court University’s historic Lakewood campus. Presented by the GCU Office of Mission Integration, the event is free and open to the public.
“At a time in our world when religion and religious beliefs play such a critical role in the global community, it is wise to consider and embrace some of our mutual beliefs, educate ourselves about our differences, and gain a better understanding and appreciation of how to work toward respectful and peaceful solutions to differences,” says Evelyn Saul Quinn, M.S.W., M.Ed., GCU vice president for mission integration.
Dr. Bellitto, an associate professor of history at Kean University, and Rabbi Susman, a noted author and founding rabbi of Congregation Kol Am, are frequent lecture partners. For more than a decade, the God Squad has blended education and humor and history and scholarly expertise while examining many aspects of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In their presentation, the God Squad bridges the polarized gap between Judaism and Christianity by using an open-eyed view of history to promote understanding and good faith moving forward. During their upcoming talk at Georgian Court University, Rabbi Susman and Dr. Bellitto will offer reflections on the last half-century of Jewish-Catholic relations, and their hope is to engage the audience in conversation as well.
While registration is free, reservations are required. RSVP for the God Squad conversation here, or call the GCU Office of Special Events and Conferences at 732.987.2263 for more information.
