Understanding gender — how it shapes power, opportunity, culture, and identity — is fundamental to careers in business, counseling, education, healthcare, law, social work, and public service. GCU's Gender and Women's Studies minor examines women's status, roles, and contributions across multiple disciplinary perspectives.

The Gender and Women’s Studies minor examines the status and roles of women and gender — past and present — stressing women’s special contributions to culture and society and their roles as agents of social change. The minor enhances preparedness for careers in business management, counseling, education, healthcare, law, psychology, sociology, social work, and many others.
A minimum of 15 hours is required. In addition to the courses in the list below, other related courses may be counted toward the minor, including special topics courses related to gender and women. Courses in the minor may also be used to meet applicable requirements in General Education or in the student’s major(s) or other minor(s).

This course gives the students the opportunity to explore the discipline of women’s studies in depth. Special areas of study will be based on student interest. One topic will be explored intensively for the total course content. The course may be repeated for the majoring or minoring student when differing topics are offered.
