About the School
Georgian Court's School of Business, Education, Liberal Arts, & Sciences brings together disciplines that, at first glance, might seem worlds apart — and that's exactly the point. Business strategy and graphic design. Criminal justice and psychology. Teacher education and molecular biology. When these fields are taught together by faculty who know your name, the connections you make — in the classroom and beyond — are unlike anything you'll find at a larger university.
Our students don't just study a subject. They develop as active learners, problem-solvers, and ethical leaders through small-class learning, hands-on research, internships, and service learning woven directly into their coursework.
Departments & Areas of Study
Department of Biology, Biochemistry, & Chemistry
Science starts here. With accelerated pathways to graduate programs at Seton Hall University, partnerships with Rutgers University School of Health Professions, and affiliations with Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, our science programs go well beyond the textbook. Whether you're pre-med, prepharmacy, or pursuing a career in research or health sciences, GCU gives you the foundation — and the connections — to get there.
Department of Business & Design
From accounting and finance to graphic design and marketing, our business programs prepare you to compete in a fast-changing global economy. You'll graduate with more than a degree — you'll have real-world experience, a professional network, and the creative, ethical mindset today's employers are hiring for.
Department of Education
Want to change lives? GCU's education programs are built for future teachers, school leaders, and counselors who want to do more than teach — they want to transform. With certification pathways at every level and graduate programs recognized for innovation in literacy and multisensory instruction, this is where educators are made.
Department of English, Communication, & Interdisciplinary Studies
Tell stories that matter. Lead conversations that move people. Our communication and English programs develop writers, storytellers, strategists, and media professionals who are ready for careers in PR, journalism, digital marketing, film, and beyond. Not sure where you fit? The Interdisciplinary Studies degree lets you design the education that fits you.
Department of Mathematics, Computer Science & Physics
In a world driven by data and technology, analytical thinkers are in demand everywhere. GCU's programs in mathematics, computer science, and information systems give you the technical depth and critical thinking skills to solve complex problems — in tech, finance, education, research, or wherever your ambitions take you.
Department of Psychological, Social, & Behavioral Sciences
What drives human behavior? How do we build safer communities and more just systems? GCU's behavioral sciences programs approach these questions with both academic rigor and deep social purpose — preparing students for careers in psychology, social work, criminal justice, counseling, and more.
Department of World Cultures & Human Experience
Art. History. Philosophy. Faith. These aren't just academic subjects — they're the lenses through which we understand what it means to be human. GCU's humanities programs are grounded in Mercy tradition and designed to cultivate empathy, cross-cultural understanding, and the kind of ethical clarity that every future leader needs.
Interdisciplinary Minors
GCU also offers interdisciplinary minors in Africana Studies, American Studies, Gender and Women's Studies, Leadership, Multiethnic Studies, Politics, Law & History, and Social Justice — because the most interesting questions rarely fit neatly into one field.
