Already have a master's or doctorate in a helping profession — and want to become a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst? GCU's 21-credit Post-Master's Graduate Certificate in ABA meets the BCBA Pathway 2 coursework requirements so you can sit for the BCBA® examination without pursuing a full second master's degree.

If you already hold a master's or doctoral degree in psychology or education, you don't need another full degree program to pursue BCBA certification. This 21-credit certificate provides exactly the behavior-analytic coursework the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) requires for Pathway 2 eligibility. Efficient. Focused. Directly applicable from day one.
You can begin accumulating the supervised experience hours required for BCBA certification from the moment you enter the program — so by the time you complete the certificate, you may already be well on your way to meeting the full exam eligibility requirements.
This certificate uses the same core ABA coursework as GCU's M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis — grounded in the BCBA Test Content Outline (6th ed.) and built on the scientist-practitioner model. You'll learn the theory, the assessment methods, the behavior change procedures, the ethics, and the clinical application that BCBA practice demands.
The BCBA credential is in high demand from behavioral health organizations across the country. Helping professionals who already have a master’s degree (e.g., in psychology, education, social work, speech pathology, nursing, or business) and want to add the BCBA credential to their practice should consider GCU’s clear and efficient pathway to a Post-Master’s Certificate.
This 21-credit program is mapped to the BCBA Test Content Outline (6th ed.) domains, and covers foundational ABA concepts and principles, ethical and professional conduct aligned with the BACB’s Ethics Code, measurement and experimental design, philosophy of behaviorism, behavior assessment, behavior change procedures I, and behavior change procedures II (including introduction to Organizational Behavior Management). This is the full behavioral-analytic coursework scope required by the BACB — without the elective or track-specific courses required for the full M.A. program.
