Politics, Law & History, Minor

Politics, law, and history are the three disciplines that most directly explain how power works — who has it, how it's exercised, and what it means for individuals and communities. GCU's Politics, Law & History minor combines American government, legal frameworks, and historical study to prepare students for law school, graduate school, careers in government and public service, and active democratic citizenship.

Program overview

The interdisciplinary Politics, Law, and History minor offers students an opportunity to learn about America’s political system, constitutional/legal principles, and modern history from multiple perspectives. The program sharpens writing, research, and critical thinking skills, and prepares students for graduate school, law school, teaching, government, international relations, public service, and communications.

Program Information

A minimum of 18 credits is required for the Politics, Law, and History minor. At least half of the required courses must be taken at Georgian Court University. Courses at the 300 level and higher cannot count toward both a student’s major and the Politics, Law, and History minor (except that Criminal Justice majors may count two criminal justice courses toward the major). For more information or approval of a course that is not currently listed, contact Dr. Scott H. Bennett.
