Great coaches understand human performance from the inside out. GCU's Coaching minor gives you the theory, practice, psychology, and real internship experience to coach athletes at any level — whether you're an athlete yourself, a Physical Education teacher, or a sport management professional building a coaching credential alongside your degree.

The Coaching minor is built around the applied science and practical wisdom of coaching — covering foundational exercise science, first aid and CPR, coaching theory, sport and exercise psychology, gender and equity in sports, and the administrative dimensions of athletic programs. The required Coaching Internship puts you in a real coaching environment under supervision, building the hands-on credential that coaching employers look for.
The minor may be taken alongside any major. Exercise Science majors can complete it as a concentration within their degree. Non-majors who complete all 19 credits earn the Coaching Minor.
The 19 credits required in this minor/concentration/certificate may be taken along with the major required courses to complete a major in exercise science, wellness, and sports. These courses may also be taken by a non-major who wishes to gain expertise in coaching athletes. Completion of all credits in the track will enable a non-major to earn the minor in Coaching.
