Georgian Court University’s annual Blue & Gold Invited Talk returns on Thursday, October 22, at 3:30 p.m. in the Casino Auditorium with alumna Chloe Grady ’17, an eighth-grade special education English teacher at Neptune Middle School. Grady will present “When We Show Up.”
Grady has taught for nine years, with experience in English and special education in grades 5–8. Her years at Georgian Court were marked by leadership, service, global learning, and involvement in the university’s Mercy tradition.
A member of Georgian Court’s first fully coeducational class, Grady became deeply involved in campus life. She served for three years as an Orientation Leader and mentor, guiding incoming students and co-teaching the Freshman Seminar course.
Grady was also active in the Women in Leadership and Development (WILD) Program and the Mercy Collegiate Society, earning leadership and global awareness awards. She participated in a Mercy pilgrimage to Ireland and Global Education experiences in Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, and Ireland. Those journeys helped inform her senior English thesis on cultural influence in literature.
In 2022, Grady secured a national Busload of Books grant, bringing literacy and arts programming to Title I schools. She later collaborated with Washington College on research analyzing the program’s impact on schools across the country.
In 2024, Grady became a Mercy Associate, continuing her connection to Georgian Court’s founding mission of service and compassion. Outside the classroom, she teaches dance at Wright Dance Studio, owned by GCU alumna Christina Floros ’17.
Grady’s presentation continues GCU’s Blue & Gold Invited Talk series, which brings speakers from across disciplines to campus to engage the university community in conversation and learning. Last year’s speaker was Dr. Allison Smith, assistant professor of sport administration and a scholar on gender equity and leadership in athletics.
