Parking & Transportation

Georgian Court University provides parking for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The University does not assume responsibility for the security of vehicles or their contents while they are parked on University property. Always lock your vehicle.

Campus Access and Visitor Parking

The Main Entrance at Lakewood Avenue and Ninth Street is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Most campus roads are one-way, and all drivers must observe the posted 15 mph speed limit.

Visitors must obtain a parking pass from the Campus Safety Gatehouse at Ninth Street and Private Way. The pass must be displayed while on campus.

The Office of Campus Safety is located in the Gatekeeper's Lodge and is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Parking Registration and Permits

All students, faculty, and staff must register every vehicle they intend to bring to campus. Registration is required to receive a valid parking hangtag, but it does not guarantee a conveniently located space.

Students

Lakewood campus students are automatically charged a parking fee each semester, including students whose classes are entirely online. Students must register their vehicle through Self-Service each semester in which the fee is charged.

Registering a Vehicle

To receive a parking hangtag:

  1. Have your license plate number ready.
  2. Log in to Self-Service.
  3. Under Finances, select Parking Registration.
  4. Enter all required vehicle information.
  5. Select Submit.

Commuting students receive their hangtag by mail. Resident students receive an email when their hangtag is available for pickup.

Waiving the Parking Fee

If you do not plan to park on campus, you must waive, or opt out of, parking privileges before the semester deadline:

1. Log in to Self-Service.
2. Under Finances, select Parking Registration.
3. Select the Waive Parking Privileges box at the bottom of the form.
4. Select Submit.

Allow 48 hours for processing. The Office of Student Accounts will reverse the parking fee. If you do not waive parking each semester by the semester deadline, the fee cannot be reversed, even if you do not have a vehicle on campus.

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff should register vehicles through the Office of Student Accounts.

Parking Rules and Regulations

Parking rules are enforced 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Citations are issued for violations.

  • Display a valid parking permit in any University parking lot.
  • Students may park only in white-lined spaces.
  • Red-lined spaces are reserved for faculty and staff.
  • Blue-lined spaces are reserved for people with disabilities who display the proper tags.
  • Yellow-lined areas are no-parking zones.
  • Obey all speed limits, stop signs, and traffic signs.
  • Yield to pedestrians and do not obstruct pedestrian or vehicle traffic.
  • Do not park on roads, driveways, grass areas, sidewalks, in fire lanes, or in other restricted areas.
  • The area in front of Maria Hall is a fire zone. Parking is prohibited and will result in a citation.
  • Repeated violations may result in loss of parking privileges and/or towing.

Resident Student Parking

Resident students may park behind or adjacent to their residence hall. They may not drive to the Dining Hall or other campus buildings, or park in any lot other than Lot D.

Vehicles should be used only for entering and leaving campus and for loading or unloading at the residence hall. Loading and unloading is limited to 10 minutes.
