As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and faculty member of Georgian Court, Dr. Burns dedicates his time to his students and the Office of Military and Veteran Services and Outreach, where he supports military and veteran students in their journey. The office provides students with advice, guidance, information, resources, support services, socialization spaces, deployment help, and connections with national organizations.

“I am beyond grateful to receive the 2024 Veteran Champions in Higher Education Award,” said Dr. Burns. “Veterans have sacrificed so much for our country, and we must give back by assisting them whenever possible. As a veteran myself, it is my desire to help student veterans reach their academic dreams and goals and have the best college experience they can at Georgian Court.”

The award recipients have been selected for their persistent work and devotion to cultivating programs and services that address the needs of student veterans and help them achieve success in higher education. Recipients of this honor were recognized in the October issue of G.I. Jobs and in print and digital publications.

Military Friendly, the awarding organization, measures and acknowledges the dedication, endeavors, and success of companies and colleges that work to assemble meaningful chances for the military community.
