Georgian Court Commencement Ceremonies – Thursday, May 9

Georgian Court University will celebrate the 113th Annual Commencement Ceremonies, marking the graduation of 494 members of the Class of 2024* on Thursday, May 9, (indoors) at the Wellness Center on the campus in Lakewood, N.J.

The day begins with a Baccalaureate Mass at 10 a.m. at the Dorothy Marron University Chapel. The Undergraduate program begins at 12:30 p.m.  The Undergraduate speaker will be Rodrigo A. Colón, Jr. ’95, ’17, a recognized speaker and career advocate for college students, an executive coach, author of “Win The Race for 21st Century Jobs,” and CEO of Rod Colón Consulting.

The Undergraduate student address will be presented by senior Kayla Marie Latendresse of Brick, N.J. who is receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in Writing. 

The Graduate program procession begins at 5 p.m. The Graduate speaker will be John Harmon, Founder, President, and CEO of the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey. GCU will bestow the honorary degree of Doctor of Business Administration.

The Graduate student address will be presented by Julie Elizabeth Matthew of North Brunswick, N.J., who earned a Master’s Degree in Education with a Reading/Literacy Specialization.   

The following degrees will be awarded from the university’s four schools:

325 Bachelor’s Degrees

159 Master’s Degrees

10 Doctorate Degrees awarded from the university’s four schools.

  • School of Arts & Sciences: 88 Bachelor’s, 25 Master’s, 10 Doctorates.
  • School of Business & Digital Media:  41 Bachelor’s, 22 Master’s.
  • School of Education: 27 Bachelor’s, 101 Master’s.
  • Hackensack Meridian Health School of Nursing and Wellness at GCU: 169 Bachelor’s, 11 Master’s.

Thirty-five percent of this commencement class are first-generation college graduates.   

*The graduation numbers include students who completed degree requirements in August 2023, December 2023, and February 2024.
