Georgian Court University and the MCI Institute have signed two new articulation agreements, establishing clear pathways for students to continue their studies across both institutions.
The dual agreements allow for a two-way exchange of opportunities. Georgian Court biology majors can continue their studies at MCI in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Sonography to earn a BA or BS in Biology with a Medical Imaging track. Graduates of MCI’s allied health programs—including Surgical Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and Cardiovascular Sonography—can transfer credits toward a Bachelor of Arts in Health Profession Studies at Georgian Court. Students transferring from MCI may bring in up to 90 credits, helping them avoid duplication and move more efficiently and affordably toward a bachelor’s degree.
The announcement comes at a time when key allied health fields are projected to face significant shortages in the next decade. Meanwhile, undergraduate enrollment in health professions and related programs grew 8% in fall 2024, the first rise since the pandemic, demonstrating renewed student interest in healthcare careers. Agreements like this address student demand and workforce needs, ensuring graduates are prepared for meaningful, in-demand careers.
“These agreements build bridges for our students,” said Dr. Eugene Cornacchia, Interim President of Georgian Court University. “Together with MCI, we are creating clear, supportive pathways that open new opportunities, remove barriers, and help students advance efficiently toward meaningful healthcare careers.”
The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Carolyn Bergman, Associate Professor and Chair of Georgian Court’s Department of Biology, who guided the academic development of the agreements. “This collaboration gives our students exciting new options,” Dr. Bergman explained. “It provides a clear path for biology majors to gain the clinical training for certification in sonography, while also welcoming MCI graduates into a bachelor’s program that expands their career opportunities.”
“MCI Institute is proud to collaborate with Georgian Court University to expand educational opportunities that support academic, professional and workforce readiness for students pursuing careers in healthcare,” said Bogdan (Dan) Jasinski, CEO and School Director. MCI places a strong emphasis on preparing students with the necessary skills and clinical experience to enhance post-graduate job marketability.
The agreements took effect in January 2026, with coordinated advising and admissions processes in place to support students. For more information about these agreements and opportunities for students, please contact Dr. Carolyn Bergman at cbergman@georgian.edu.
