Georgian Court University (GCU) has been awarded a $75,000 institutional grant from the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE) for the second consecutive year to strengthen the State of New Jersey’s “Some College, No Degree” (SCND) initiative.

This funding will enable GCU to continue building capacity, addressing institutional barriers to re-enrollment and degree completion, and fostering innovative ways to serve SCND students.

In 2024, the grant funded a campaign targeting students who had previously enrolled at Georgian Court but hadn’t completed their degrees. The campaign’s goal was to provide resources and support to encourage re-enrollment. Through mail and digital outreach, students were invited to express their interest in Georgian Court, after which admissions representatives reached out to guide them through the process.

“There’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach to earning a college degree,” said Dr. Jennifer Edmonds, Dean of the School of Business & Digital Media. “We welcome former GCU Lions or students who started at other universities to continue pursuing their goals at Georgian Court.”

Georgian Court empowers non-traditional students by providing them with the tools and resources necessary for academic and personal success. SCND students who started their degree at Georgian Court may be eligible for a $10,000 award when re-enrolling, while those who started at another university may qualify for a merit scholarship based on their incoming GPA. The GCU Promise program also provides financial support to cover tuition and fees for students who receive a full Federal Pell Grant (PELL) and New Jersey Tuition Aid Grant (TAG).

Georgian Court recently climbed 16 spots in the U.S. News & World Report rankings, released in late September, now ranking 95th among Best Regional Universities North. The university also improved in the Top Performers on Social Mobility category, moving to 90th. These recognitions underscore Georgian Court’s focus on academic excellence and its ongoing efforts to support underserved students.
