Program
This global experience focusing on sports, stunning nature under the warm sun in late August, and historic exploration including the city of Belgrade, Novi Sad, Plitvice Lakes (UNESCO site), Porec, and Venice (3 countries of Serbia, Croatia and Italy). For Sports, we will visit Basketball Club Vojvodina and DIF Fakultet (School of Physical Education), KSS (Serbian Basketball Federation) and the state of the art Olympic Training Center. Nature experience includes walking/hiking at Plitvice Lakes (UNESCO site), boat tour in Porec, and catamaran ride from Porec to Venice. Historic exploration occurs at every stop, but in particular at Belgrade, Novi Sad, Porec and Venice.

Academics
An interdisciplinary course will prepare students to understand sports, wellness, and integrative health topics within these countries.
Faculty Leaders
Dr. Vincent Chen, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science. His research interests include Exercise Physiology, Nutrition, and Muscle Biology. Born and raised in Taiwan, Dr. Chen has traveled the world since childhood and now calls the United States home. With his diverse background, he understands the value of international experiences and wants to introduce his students to these opportunities. He previously led GCU faculty programs to Taiwan and to Ghana.
Dr. Sachiko Komagata, PT, PhD, NBC-HWC, ACSM-CPE, is an Associate Professor and Program Director of Integrative Health in the Department of Integrative Health & Exercise Science at Georgian Court University. Before GCU, she worked as a Physical Therapist in an acute care hospital in the suburbs of Philadelphia and taught graduate programs part time at UMDNJ, Thomas Jefferson University, and Temple University. She is a Certified Wellness Coach, an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist, and Board-Certified Tai Chi Instructor through Tai Chi for Health Institute. While she is originally from Japan, she has traveled extensively in Europe and Asia and led GCU faculty-led programs to Japan, Iceland, and Nepal. She loves eating food from around the world and if you are lucky, you may find her cooking authentic food with her students on campus.
