Department of Education
Become the Teacher Who Changes Everything.
Department of Education
Teaching with purpose, from your first class to your own classroom.
Teaching is one of the most demanding — and most rewarding — careers there is. At Georgian Court, the Department of Education prepares caring, competent, and qualified educators who are ready for the realities of today’s P-12 classrooms, not just the theory. Every program is grounded in the Mercy values of respect, integrity, and service to the students who need it most.
Undergraduates pursue certification through one of three pathways — Early Childhood Education (P-3), Elementary Education (K-6), or Teacher of a Specific Subject (K-12) — built on top of a content major like Biology, English, History, Mathematics, Psychology, or Visual Art. Every pathway includes a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) endorsement at no extra cost, so you graduate ready to teach in general education, inclusive, and special education classrooms alike.
Graduate students have even more room to grow — from a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership to specialized M.Ed. programs and endorsements in everything from school counseling to multisensory literacy. Wherever you are in your career, there’s a next step here.

Every Program Includes a Disabilities Endorsement
All of GCU's teacher education programs integrate general and special education training, so every graduate earns a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) endorsement alongside their primary certification — giving you the flexibility to teach in general education, inclusive, or special education settings.
