Virtual – Expand Your Potential through Breath and Movement

Attendees will learn physiology of breathing, symptoms of over-breathing, how to self-assess breathing and proper breathing techniques. In addition, attendees will learn a simple set of Tai Chi movement together to expand the potential we all have within us.

Joshua BurnsJoshua Burns, ND, DC
Joshua has nearly five years experience teaching integrative medicine. Having earned his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from National University of Health Sciences in 2015. Joshua took a primary care residency at one of the largest Naturopathic Clinics in the country in Tacoma, WA. Wanting to continue his studies after his residency, he enrolled in the Doctor of Chiropractic program at National University of Health Sciences Florida branch and began simultaneously teaching wellness courses at Saint Leo University in Dade City, FL. Joshua completed his Doctor of Chiropractic in 2017 and took a position as an Alternative Medicine faculty for Everglades University in Tampa, FL. Joshua joined Georgian Court University in 2019 and currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the department of Integrative Health and Exercise Science. His most recent courses with GCU include classes in both the Integrative Health minor and the Integrative Health graduate program: Anatomy and Physiology, Homeopathy, Introduction to Nutrition, Holistic Spirituality, Eastern Nutrition, Integrative Health East and West, and Advanced Healing methods. Joshua’s research interests include: botanical medicines, and interventions for sleep disturbances.

Sachiko KomagataSachiko Komagata, P.T., Ph.D.
Sachiko has over a decade of clinical experience as a physical therapist in acute care hospitals and outpatient services working with individuals with diverse health concerns, including cardiopulmonary, neurological, oncological, geriatric, pediatric and sport-related as well as general orthopedic cases. She has taught graduate level courses at Temple University, Thomas Jefferson, University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey (UMDNJ) and currently serves as a Chair/Associate Professor of the Department of Holistic Health and Exercise Science at Georgian Court University leading its cutting-edge Master’s degree program (both on campus and online) in Holistic Health. Her most recent teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses includes: Anatomy and Physiology: A Holistic Approach, Foundations of Holistic Health, Meditation for Life, Holistic Views of Women’s Health, Humor and Heading, Research Methods, Project in Holistic Health, Eastern Views of Holistic Health, Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries. She has published in journal and co-authored books, and presented and participated in various professional conferences as well as serving the community. She has Bachelor of Physical Education from Japan Women’s College of Physical Education and both Master and Ph.D. in Physical Therapy from Temple University. She holds Physical Therapist license since 1993, Clinical Exercise Physiologist (formerly known as Clinical Exercise Specialist) by American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and received National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) in 2020.

Deposit Deadline Extended to June 1

Georgian Court University has extended the deposit deadline to June 1 in response to the U.S. Department of Education announcement concerning delayed data availability from the revised Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Additionally, deposits are also refundable up to June 1. Click here for more information about the deposit extension.
