Make a difference by working to empower and support disadvantaged populations. When you earn your Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) from Georgian Court University, you’ll follow a curriculum focused on ethics, values, critical thinking, human behavior, and social and economic justice. As a social worker, you’ll be able to mold your passions for social justice and change into a lifelong career of helping others.

A B.S.W. from Georgian Court is a professional degree, which means that when you graduate, you will automatically be considered a General Practitioner and may apply to become a Certified Social Worker (C.S.W.). We also offer an accelerated associate’s to B.S.W. path that allows students with two-year degrees to fast-track their path to earning their bachelor’s degree.

SPECIALIZE IN WHAT YOU WANT WITHIN

GCU's Social Work Programs

SOCIAL WORK MAJOR

The social work major provides a liberal arts foundation and then builds upon it with an immersive social work curriculum and field experience. This program requires 120 credits to complete.

SOCIAL WORK MINOR

Develop an understanding of the change agents needed to turn a concern for social justice into action, both locally and globally, with a minor in social work.

GERONOTOLOGY MINOR

The gerontology minor is designed to enhance the knowledge base for students seeking to pursue a career in the field of aging or working with an older population.

The profession of social work is firmly grounded in certain core values. These include commitment to service, social justice, dignity and worth of the individual, importance of human relationships, integrity, and compassion. There are so many reasons I love GCU, but what I love most is how closely the Mercy core values align with the convictions of social work practice. Social work is Mercy work!
