Georgian Court University will welcome 563* new students to campus this fall when classes begin after Labor Day.
The Class of 2028 will include 226 first-time students from 12 states across the country, including California, Montana, Arizona, Maine and Florida. The class also welcomes 11 international students from Australia, Canada, China, Croatia, England, Germany, Jamaica, New Zealand, Romania and Sweden.
The most popular majors for incoming students are Nursing, Exercise Science, Wellness & Sports, Psychology, and Business Administration.
“Student enrollment continues to grow, transfers from community colleges have increased, and for the first time since 2009, student housing, which includes four residence halls, is at full capacity,” said Erika Davis, Vice President for Enrollment Management at Georgian Court. “We are extremely pleased by this positive trend and the increase in first-time college student retention, which is on track to be 81.4% for the incoming students last year. In contrast, last year’s retention rate was 76%.”
Davis explained, “We attribute this ongoing success to the university’s strong focus on community and serving the whole student — academic, social, spiritual, and emotional — and continuing to provide an affordable pathway to achieving the dream of earning a college degree.”
The 2024-2025 academic year also includes 189 new transfer students from community colleges; and 148 new graduate students joining degree programs in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health, Psychology, Education, Business, and Nursing.
GCU anticipates just over 2,000 students to be enrolled for the 2024-2025 academic year. Move-in for residential students begins on August 29, and classes start for all students on September 3, 2024.
GCU welcomes its Lions back to campus for an exciting year of learning and personal, educational, social, and spiritual growth. The university looks forward to each of them sharing their diverse social, cultural, and regional experiences to nourish and grow their understandings of each other, and to continue fostering an even more compassionate and inclusive community.
