AGREEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING

Academic Program Enrollment Georgian Court University And New Horizons in Autism, Inc.

This agreement, between Georgian Court University (GCU) and New Horizons in Autism, Inc, (NHIA) is established to enable employees of NHIA to enroll in specific undergraduate and graduate programs at GCU for reduced tuition rates.

Academic and Administrative Components:

  • All undergraduate degree programs except for BSN/ABSN in any format on-line, off-site or in-person at the Georgian Court Lakewood Campus. Tuition for 2022-23 will be $581/credit.  NHIA will be notified of tuition increases each year which will track that of “satellite locations”.
  • All graduate degree and certificate programs except for Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) and the MSN (all forms). A discount of 25% will be applied to posted tuition for the program.
  • NHIA employees matriculated into academic programs are not considered differently from any other student matriculated in the same program. They have access to the same facilities and resources and are subject to the same academic policies.
  • No other Georgian Court institutional aid applies. Students may apply for state and federal financial aid if applicable.

Admissions:

  • The NHIA contact in the Office of Admission will be Priscilla Alicea, AVP of Undergraduate Admissions and will provide recruitment material for prospective students as needed.  Once a student applies, they will be assigned an Admission Counselor to help them through the process.
  • Admissions standards for students employed by NHIA will be consistent with Georgian Court University policies. Students must fulfill all academic requirements for admission and submit all required official documents.  There is no guarantee of admission.
  • Students should apply electronically via the appropriate application for the program they are interested in (undergraduate/graduate).  Students will be notified of an admission decision within ten business days of a completed application.  Students must also submit a letter of employment in good standing from NHIA.
  • Once admitted, students will need to make the required deposit to show intention of enrolling.

Agreement Provisions:

  • This Agreement may be amended or modified only in writing and signed by the parties hereto.
  • If either party considers terminating this Agreement at any time, then that party (the “Notifying Party”) will give the other party (the “Responding Party”) written notice that sets forth the Notifying Party’s reasons for considering termination in sufficient detail. During the 30 day period following receipt of such notice, both Parties will discuss, in good faith, the Notifying Party’s reasons for considering termination, in an effort to avoid the need for termination.  After the 30 day discussion period, the Notifying Party, may, at in sole and absolute discretion, terminate the Agreement by giving 30 days written notice of its intent to terminate to the Responding Party;  provided however, that neither Party may give notice of its intention to terminate within the first 30 days after the commencement date of this Agreement.  In the event of a termination under this paragraph, GCU honor tuition for impacted students for the currently enrollment semester and will allow students to continue as regularly enrolled students.
  • Each party (the “Indemnitor”) will indemnify, defend, and hold the other party and its shareholders, members, partners, directors, officers, employees, and agents (the “Indemnified Parties”), harmless from all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, including reasonable attorneys’ fees (collectively, “Claims”) suffered by the Indemnified Parties as a result of the Indemnitor’s gross negligence or willful misconduct and will defend the Indemnified Parties against such Claims using legal counsel reasonably acceptable to the Indemnified Parties.
  • Neither Party shall have the right to assign this agreement without the prior written consent of the other Party.
  • This agreement constitutes the entire agreement of the Parties with respect to the subject to matter hereof. No modification hereof shall be binding upon any of the Parties hereto unless made in writing and signed by the Parties.
  • The Parties are not, and shall not be, considered as partners or joint ventures. The execution of this agreement does not, and shall not, constitute neither a partnership nor a principal/agent relationship between the Parties hereto.
  • Each Party represents to the other that the person signing this agreement has the full authority to do so.
  • This agreement shall be reviewed by both parties and approved on a bi-annual basis.

Term:

This agreement shall take effect on July 1, 2022 will renew annually.

Notices:

Whenever written notice is required or permitted to be given by one Party to the other, it shall be deemed to be sufficiently given when deposited in the United States mail with the proper postage affixed by certified mail, return requested, as follows:

Deposit Deadline Extended to June 1

Georgian Court University has extended the deposit deadline to June 1 in response to the U.S. Department of Education announcement concerning delayed data availability from the revised Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
