Dance programs at Georgian Court University give students the opportunity to combine a professional practice with a strong liberal arts foundation. This enables graduates to advance themselves for the many careers available in the field of dance.

Dancers know about the transformative power of dance firsthand. That is why pursuing a career in dance at the university level is so desirable—it lets them bridge the gap between practicing their passion and creating a viable career. GCU provides an encouraging environment that fosters personal, intellectual, artistic, and spiritual growth—not to mention career guidance.

The Department of Dance aims to instruct students in motivated, genuine, and unadorned dance principles. Each member of our faculty believes that artistic talent can be developed successfully and to its full extent on a solid basis of technical skills mediating between tradition and innovation as well as creative practice and critical thinking. We proudly offer three faculty-led ensembles a semester, as well as distinguished guests that choreograph original or repertory works for our students. Plus, the program allows students to double major or minor in other related fields such as exercise science, wellness, and sports; visual art; business administration; digital communication; Integrative Health; and more.

Our department has worked diligently to ensure beautiful studio spaces equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. We also offer scholarships to highly qualified students. From 2009 to 2016, the Department of Dance has hosted many distinguished guest artists including MacArthur Fellow Rennie Harris, Pew Fellow Merian Soto and Guggenheim Fellow Tamar Rogoff.

The department also offers Kappa Omicron Nu, which is an honor society for students studying dance, exercise science, and Integrative Health who have a GPA over 3.2.
