Georgian Court University has officially launched a new Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) in Informatics, Innovation & Technology, expanding graduate opportunities for nurses and helping meet growing demand for healthcare professionals who can lead at the intersection of patient care, data, and technology.
Applications are now open, and the program will welcome its inaugural cohort in Spring 2027.
The 36-credit master’s degree is delivered 100% online and can be completed in as little as 18 months, offering working registered nurses a flexible pathway to advance their careers while remaining in practice. Developed through the Hackensack Meridian Health School of Nursing and Wellness at Georgian Court University, the program prepares nurses to evaluate, implement, and lead healthcare technologies ranging from electronic health records and predictive analytics to telehealth, artificial intelligence, and emerging digital health tools.
The new degree builds on Georgian Court’s growing portfolio of nursing programs and becomes the university’s second graduate nursing offering, joining the Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (DE-M.S.N.) program launched in 2022.
“Healthcare organizations need professionals who can lead at the intersection of clinical practice, data, and innovation,” said Dr. Eugene J. Cornacchia, Interim President of Georgian Court University. “This new degree will prepare nurses for leadership roles in one of healthcare’s fastest-evolving fields while meeting the workforce needs of an increasingly technology-driven healthcare system.”
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects strong growth for health information and informatics-related careers over the coming decade. As hospitals, health systems, insurers, and healthcare technology companies continue investing in digital transformation initiatives, employers are increasingly seeking nurses who understand both clinical workflows and the technologies that support them.
“Nurses bring a unique clinical perspective to the design, implementation, and evaluation of healthcare technologies,” said Dr. Theresa A. Wurmser, Dean of the Hackensack Meridian Health School of Nursing and Wellness at Georgian Court University. “This program prepares graduates to ensure innovation improves patient outcomes while preserving the human-centered care that defines our profession.”
Students will complete coursework in nursing informatics, health information systems, data management, healthcare innovation, ethics, regulation, and emerging technologies. The curriculum is aligned with the 2021 American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials, ensuring graduates are prepared for contemporary advanced nursing practice in technology-driven healthcare environments.
A hallmark of the program is its emphasis on real-world application. Students will complete 200 hours of supervised practice immersion through a two-course capstone sequence, working with faculty mentors and clinical preceptors to identify, plan, implement, and evaluate solutions to actual healthcare informatics challenges.

“Technology provides the tools; people provide the compassion, judgment, and action that improve care,” said Dr. Kathryn E. Fleming, Associate Dean and Professor-in-Residence. “The nurses who complete this program will learn how to evaluate emerging technologies critically, use data strategically, and lead innovation while keeping patient care at the center of every decision.”
The new degree also builds on Georgian Court’s longstanding partnership with Hackensack Meridian Health, New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive health network. Through that partnership, students will have access to practice immersion opportunities, professional networks, and real-world healthcare environments that help translate classroom learning into professional impact.
Graduates will be prepared for careers as nursing informatics specialists, clinical informatics managers, healthcare innovation strategists, clinical systems analysts, digital health leaders, telehealth program directors, and other emerging roles throughout the healthcare sector.
The M.S.N. in Informatics, Innovation & Technology begins in Spring 2027. Prospective students can learn more, request information, or apply by visiting the program webpage or contacting Graduate Admissions at 732-987-2770 or [email protected].
