Worth the Journey: A Gilman Scholar’s Experiences in Prague

The competitive national Gilman Scholarship Program gives high-achieving college students of limited financial means the opportunity to study abroad. Receiving a Gilman grant was only one challenge Hannah Koutishian ’22, a nursing major, would meet to fulfill her international study goals—but she persevered.

Nursing’s pinning ceremony, which acknowledges students’ successful completion of program work, has been a rite of passage for well over a century.  In February, 18 students in the first cohort of the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (A.B.S.N.) program offered by the Georgian Court–Hackensack Meridian Health School of Nursing kept that tradition. But they did so with a modern, meaningful twist. Instead of faculty members pinning students, the students—all of whom began and ended the program together, at a 100 percent graduation rate—pinned each other.

On January 14, Georgian Court University hosted their annual Servant Leadership Summit. More than 100 students, faculty, and staff from GCU, Caldwell University, Seton Hall University, and Drew University gathered on Zoom to learn what it means to serve, a Mercy core value, as well as to be a leader. The Mercy core values are the backbone of GCU and provide students with a foundation for ethical leadership and service.

Deposit Deadline Extended to June 1

Georgian Court University has extended the deposit deadline to June 1 in response to the U.S. Department of Education announcement concerning delayed data availability from the revised Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Additionally, deposits are also refundable up to June 1. Click here for more information about the deposit extension.
